The PawPals Difference

A Small, Intimate Salon

Our grooming space lets you see exactly where your dog is and how they’re being cared for. It’s open, calm, and easy for dogs to settle into.
And because our groomers have been with us for years, they get to know your dog properly, not just as a name on a booking.

Award-Winning

We’ve been in business for 12 years and have been recognised twice in the past two years as WA’s Best Doggy Daycare and Grooming Company. It means a lot to us, because it reflects the care we put into every dog that comes through our doors.

Grooming Reports

You’ll get a post-groom update straight to your phone so you’re never left wondering how your dog went or if we noticed anything during their appointment. It’s a simple way to keep you in the loop and make sure you always know how they felt on the day.

Choosing a Groomer Takes Trust

And we know trust takes more than words, so here are the answers to how our salon runs and

the questions that will help you understand what to book and what to expect at PawPals.

How do I know my dog will be safe with you?

Safety is the very first thing we think about, long before the haircut. It’s the highest value we live by here.

We keep the salon small and calm on purpose, because most dogs settle better in a quieter space with familiar faces. Our groomers have been with us for years, they understand behaviour, and they notice the little signs that show when a dog is unsure or needs a moment.

If something doesn’t feel right, we stop. And if your dog becomes too stressed to continue, we won’t push them. We’ll chat with you about what we saw and what the next steps could look like so we can help turn grooming into a positive experience for them.

You’ll always know exactly how your dog went, because we send an update after every appointment.

What makes PawPals different from other grooming salons?

We’ve built our grooming space to feel calm, open, and predictable for the dogs. When you walk into the room, you can see exactly where your dog will be and how the space works.

All our groomers have experience on the daycare floor, so they truly understand dog behaviour and how to support dogs who might feel unsure. They take their time, pay attention to how each dog is coping, and treat every appointment as something personal, not just a slot in the day.

We’re not interested in shortcuts or fast turnover. We care about dogs feeling safe, relaxed, and understood while they’re with us - and that’s the difference people notice when they come to PawPals.

What service do I need?

If you’re unsure, here’s a simple way to tell:

A tidy clip is for dogs who don’t need a full haircut. We clean up the face, paws, bum, feathers, and any wispy bits so they look neat without taking length off the whole body.

A full clip is a complete haircut from head to tail. This is ideal if your dog’s coat is getting long, fluffy, or starting to knot, or if you prefer a shorter, more manageable style.

If your dog is double coated (like a Shepherd, Husky, Collie, Pomeranian, etc.) they won’t need a haircut at all. Instead, they’ll need a deshed. This keeps their coat healthy and helps remove the loose undercoat without damaging the top coat.

If you’re still not sure, send us a photo of your dog and we’ll guide you to the right choice.

What is a Deshed?

A deshed is a grooming service designed for double-coated dogs. Breeds like Shepherds, Huskies, Collies, Pomeranians, and Retrievers have two layers of coat - a soft, dense undercoat and a protective top coat.
That undercoat builds up, traps heat, and eventually starts dropping all over your house.

A deshed removes the loose undercoat safely, without cutting the top coat or damaging how it grows.
We use specific products and tools to lift the dead coat out, reduce shedding, and keep the skin healthy.

The result is a cleaner coat, less hair in your home, and a dog who feels lighter and more comfortable.

It’s the right service for double-coated dogs, not a clip - clipping can actually affect how their coat grows back and make shedding worse over time. If you’re unsure whether your dog needs this, reach out and we can chat.

How often should I groom my dog?

We recommend every 6 to 10 weeks, depending on your dog’s coat and how much brushing you’re able to stay on top of at home. Regular brushing keeps knots from forming, helps the coat dry properly after baths or swimming, and makes each groom more comfortable for your dog.

If brushing at home is tricky, or you simply don’t have the time or patience for it (totally normal), more frequent grooming appointments are the best option. It keeps the coat in good shape, prevents matting, and means your dog has a much easier time on the grooming table.

Sticking to a consistent schedule makes a huge difference in how your dog feels and how well their coat holds up between visits.

I don’t want my dog shaved short - can you avoid that?

We completely understand. Most dog parents prefer to keep some length, and we’ll always do that whenever it’s safe for your dog.

But if a coat is very matted, brushing it out can be painful and stressful. In those situations, a short clip is actually the kindest option. We won’t force a dog through something that hurts or frightens them just for the sake of keeping length.

If we do need to clip your dog short, we’ll talk you through why, show you what we’re seeing, and make a plan to help their coat grow back healthy. Once it grows in, we can keep it at the length you love with regular grooming or a more frequent schedule if home brushing is tricky.

Do you groom puppies?

Absolutely.
For puppies under 16 weeks, we keep their first appointment short and positive with a simple bath, blow dry, and some gentle desensitisation work. It helps them learn that grooming is safe and predictable, not scary or overwhelming.
A calm first experience sets them up for life.

Meet our Beautiful Grooming Team

Danni

Danni has been part of PawPals for more than five years and is one of the steady, grounding forces behind everything we do. She works closely with Laura in her role as Branch Supervisor, supporting the team, and keeping the whole place running with her calm, capable energy.

Before stepping more deeply into grooming, Danni spent years on the daycare floor. That hands-on experience gave her an incredible understanding of dog behaviour, body language, and how to handle dogs with all kinds of personalities. It’s why she transitions so beautifully between leadership and grooming – she sees the whole dog, not just the coat in front of her.

As a groomer, Danni has a naturally gentle style. She’s patient with dogs who need a little extra reassurance and steady with dogs who like clear structure. Her work is clean, tidy, and thoughtful, and she puts a lot of care into making each appointment feel positive for the dog. She loves those quiet moments when a nervous dog finally relaxes or when a regular trots in with their tail wagging because they know she’ll look after them.

For many families, Danni is that familiar face they trust – the person who remembers their dog’s little quirks, who notices when something feels “off,” and who genuinely cares about getting things right. Her role at PawPals stretches far beyond the grooming table, but no matter what she’s doing, Danni’s calm presence makes the whole environment feel safer and more grounded for everyone.

Jami

Jami has been working in the animal industry since she was 16. She started in a pet shop, moved into vet nursing, and eventually found the place she truly belongs – grooming. It didn’t take long for her to realise how much she loved the mix of hands-on care, creativity, and the trust that develops between a groomer and each dog.

Before joining the PawPals grooming team full-time, Jami also spent time on our daycare floor. That experience gave her a deeper understanding of dog behaviour, confidence levels, and how different personalities respond to new environments. It’s a huge part of why she’s so skilled at helping dogs feel settled during their groom.

With more than 10 years of grooming experience, Jami has developed an incredible eye for detail. She understands coat types, knows how to bring out the best features in each dog, and has a natural ability to match styles to their personality and lifestyle. Whether it’s a tidy-up or a full makeover, she puts genuine pride into her work.

She’s also beautifully patient. Dogs who are a little unsure tend to soften with her because she knows how to move slowly, speak gently, and read when a dog needs a moment. That quiet confidence is a big part of why owners trust her so deeply.

At PawPals, Jami is known as our Makeover Magician – not just because of her grooming talent, but because she makes dogs feel safe, cared for, and completely understood while they’re with her.

Niomi

Niomi joined PawPals a little over three months ago after the salon she previously worked at closed down. She took a break from grooming for a while, but it didn’t take long for her to realise how much she missed being around the dogs, the routine of the salon, and the feeling of helping a dog walk out looking and feeling their best.

When she reached out to Laura, it was clear straight away that she was meant to be here. She now works between daycare and the Parlour, which gives her a wonderful understanding of each dog’s personality, confidence levels, and quirks. That crossover makes a real difference in her grooming work – she knows how to support dogs who feel a little unsure and how to bring out the best in dogs who love the spotlight.

Niomi is incredibly gentle with her hands and warm with her energy. Dogs pick up on that immediately. She has a way of making nervous pups feel safe and giving confident dogs the space to enjoy themselves. She’s already building a beautiful client base, simply because people can feel how much she cares.

She’s passionate about connection, honest communication with owners, and building trust with every dog she works with. And that’s exactly what we value here at PawPals.

We’re so happy she found her way back to grooming – and into our PawPals family.

Laura

I started PawPals back in 2014 after rescuing my dog, Hank, and feeling the same guilt so many dog parents feel, rushing home from work and hoping he was okay.

I wanted to create a place where dogs felt genuinely safe and understood, not just “supervised.”

As PawPals grew, grooming naturally became part of what we do. About eight years ago we brought it properly into the business. I’m not a groomer myself, but I’m very passionate about having the right people in the right roles, especially when it comes to the dogs in our care.

This year, after years of steady growth, we built our brand-new grooming room. It was a huge project to take on, but seeing the team in there now makes every hurdle worth it. The room has such a calm, welcoming feel, and the dogs settle beautifully when they come in for their pamper session.

Every time I walk into that space, I’m reminded of how far we’ve come and how lucky I am to have such an incredible grooming team caring for your dogs.
